Wanted 2 - Upcoming Movie

MUMBAI: ‘Wanted’ was a whammy of a winner in 2009. It was the film that started Salman’s second streak of superstardom after a string of non-starters.
And now, three years later producer Boney Kapoor, director Prabhu Deva and of course the Master Khan himself, are all set to reunite for ‘Wanted 2′.
Producer Boney Kapoor, riding the crest of a euphoric triumph with his son Arjun Kapoor’s successful debut in ‘Ishaqzaade’ and his wife Sridevi’s grand comeback in ‘English Vinglish’, has already sounded Salman out.
And Salman is full-on game for the encore. His only pre-condition is that this instalment of the ‘Wanted’ franchise should be original. Salman, we hear, is done with South Indian remakes for now.
‘Wanted’ was a remake of Puri Jagannath’s Telugu blockbuster ‘Pokiri’.
Says a source close to the ‘Wanted’ sequel, “The Boney-Prabhu-Salman team is scripting an original film this time. Salman wants it that way. After Sajid Nadidwala’s ‘Kick’ (which is a remake of a Telugu film) and his brother Sohail’s remake of ‘Stalin’, Salman doesn’t want to work in remakes for now. In fact Sohail was keen to do a South Indian remake with Salman. But Salman preferred ‘Sher Khan’. Likewise ‘No Entry’ was a remake of South Indian film. But its sequel ‘No Entry Mein Entry’ is an original script.”
While details of ‘Wanted 2′ are yet to be worked out we hear Ayesha Takia who played Salman’s leading lady in ‘Wanted’ would not be part of the sequel.
As for the other details one sought out producer Boney Kapoor who said, “It’s right now too early to talk about it. Salman is a very close family friend. He has always wished me and Sridevi well. He stood by me in my darkest hours. Now when by the grace of God I am doing well again, I’m doing two films with Salman.”
Prabhu Deva sounded excited about re-visiting the ‘Wanted’ space. Said the busy actor-dancer-director, “I am all for ‘Wanted 2′. It’s up to Boney and Salman when they want to do it.”
