Bike-maker Suzuki Motorcycle India has partnered with the Being Human Foundation, an initiative by Bollywood actor Salman Khan, to launch a special edition of its scooter ‘Suzuki Access’.
As part of the tie-up, Suzuki dealers will also sell Being Human apparel and merchandise.
In fact, the new association is an extension of the already existing ties with Khan and Suzuki as the actor endorses the Japanese brand.
“This collaboration is rooted in our philosophy of making positive social contributions as a corporate citizen. Our 300 dealers will act as outlets for Being Human apparel and merchandise,” Suzuki Motorcycles Executive Vice-President Atul Gupta told PTI here last evening.
The tie-up will be in three phases starting with apparel and then moving to biking accessories like helmets. Revenues earned from this will be directed towards causes like education of the underprivileged, cataract operations, heart surgeries and bone marrow donation camps, Gupta said.
The special edition of Suzuki Access would be priced at Rs 58,975 (on-road Mumbai), while the scooter is currently retailing at Rs 57,887 (on-road Mumbai).
The company is looking at sales of about 40,000 scooters (special edition) as part of the initiative and it is looking at a turnover of Rs 3 crore from the merchandise sales, Gupta said.
Suzuki currently has two scooters, three bikes and five superbikes in its portfolio and its business is growing at about 20 per cent, Gupta said.
Sales grew 9.04 per cent at 41,734 units in September compared to 38,271 units a year ago.
Khan launched the Being Human Foundation in 2009. Currently, its outlets are present in Mumbai, Ludhiana and Ahmedabad. He also has plans to open restaurants and hospitals under the same initiative.
“Suzuki’s networks will help us increase the reach of the Foundation and provide education and healthcare for the under privileged,” Khan said.
