Salim Khan Sir started the chat by questioning, “Why is this a hit-and-run case? Did Salman run away from the scene of crime? Was he absconding? Did he apply for anticipatory bail? It was simply an accident.”

He insists that this is the price celebrities pay for being famous. “My son was being targeted because of his reputation of being a ‘brat’. But he has changed,” asserts Khan, pointing out that when he was arrested the family wasn’t allowed to meet him.

“He wasn’t given any special treatment during those 18 days and was even refused mosquito repellent when in jail.” He admits that the family has full faith in the country’s judicial system of India. “The fear of danger is more than the actual danger,”
