It’s official. Shah Rukh Khan is set to recapture the Eid weekend in 2015.
Last year, he delivered a big hit when Chennai Express released during the festive period that, until then, was considered a Salman Khan stronghold
Although this year, Salman has already booked the Eid weekend with Kick, in 2015, Shah Rukh will return to claim the date with his film, Raees, to be directed by Rahul Dholakia.
However, sources claim that even Salman might choose the same weekend in 2015 for his upcoming venture that will be directed by Kabir Khan. This move won’t come as a surprise as the actor has delivered several hits on Eid weekend —Wanted (2009), Bodyguard (2011), Dabangg (2010) and Ek Tha Tiger (2012) — but there hasn’t been any official word on such a move yet.

The logic is simple — the Eid weekend is an opportune time for movies to release. It’s much better when no other big film has been announced to release around that time," says an insider.
Also starring Farhan Akhtar and Sonam Kapoor, Raees is expected to go on the floors later this year. When contacted, co-producer Ritesh Sidhwani confirms the news, saying, "Yes, that’s what (Eid release) we are working towards."
While Shah Rukh’s film will release on Eid in 2015, Salman's untitled next with Sooraj Barjatya — also starring Sonam as the female lead — will hit the theatres on the Diwali weekend that year.
Incidentally, the Diwali weekend has proved lucky for Shah Rukh in the past, as many of his films have released then — Baazigar (1993), Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Don (2006), Om Shanti Om (2007) and Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012).
