Salman to go one up over Aamir, SRK with Jai Ho

The battlefield is ready, the players spread out and the warrior who is in the middle of it all, Salman Khan, is well taking his guard. With first Shah Rukh Khan (Chennai Express) and then Aamir Khan (Dhoom 3) breaking and creating new records with their respective films, it is time for Salman Khan to make most with his upcoming release Jai Ho.

Amongst the three mighty Khans, he is now the only one to make an entry into 200 crore club and one can be rest assured that all eyes are on how he manages to achieve this feat.

It must be mentioned here that his Ek Tha Tiger came precariously close to gaining an entry into this club in Eid 2012. However, after a record breaking opening and then further superb innings in days to come, it came very close to Aamir's record of 3 Idiots (Rs. 202 crore) before ending its run in theatres at the Rs. 199 crore mark. He did have Dabangg 2 arriving later in the year and the film did well to cross the Rs. 150 crore mark.

However, with no release for more than a year, others make most of the open months in front of them, hence seeing many major biggies arriving in the form of Dhoom 3, Chennai Express, Krrish 3 and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.

Now that Salman is beginning the year with Jai Ho, 'aam junta' is expecting nothing less than an out and out entertainment from this film by Sohail Khan who has produced the film along with Sunil Lulla (of Eros). With four weeks to go for the film's release, an extensive marketing and promotional campaign has been designed for this action drama which is expectedly an out and out Salman Khan show.

The first big milestone for the film would be to manage the biggest release ever, which should be a good possibility, considering the fact that it has an immense appeal in single screens as well, in addition to multiplexes where it would arrive on record count. Though the promo has given a sense of deja vu, considering its action theme, the fact remains that ever since Wanted, it is this very element that has resulted in Salman films gaining audience from strength to strength.

With its status of being the first major release of 2014, Jai Ho could well set the tone for how the year would look like for 'masala' entertainers.
