Hits so far on Kick trailer: 10.3 million and counting

Our pick of the trailer this month is Sajid Nadiadwala's directorial debut Kick. What made the trailer special for us was its scale, the way it has been shot, giving it a Hollywood feel and Rajat Aroraa's dialogues that made it every bit a Salman Khan film. It has everything a diehard Salman fan can want, be it stylish looks, his action or his emotional side.

The trailer has Jacqueline Fernandez looking stunning with Salman, Randeep Hooda used superbly for his strength as an actor leaving you with a sense of intrigue, with Nawazuddin Siddiqui displaying his dark side in the end.

When Salman says, 'Mere bare mein itna mat sochna... dil mein aata hoon, samajh mein nahi' you cannot help but say, 'Gosh, Salman has never been summed up better than this before' and then Randeep's deep voice in the end saying 'Eid hai aur woh apni Eidi lene zaroor aayega' does just not leave you spellbound but leaves you wanting to see the trailer again and again.

Whatever be the fate of the film, two things are clear. One, that no trailer has had 10 million hits in just 9 days and second, that no trailer has ever left you as kicked as much as this one before.

Excerpts from our conversation with the filmmaker on why he believes the trailer works: "For me to do this film with Salman is a very big high, as it is just his mood one day that made me a director. I feel the trailer has worked due to a combination of the intrigue it had, as we had not exposed any visuals before, the locations, the photography, the actors, the dialogues and above all, Salman himself. The experience of working on this film for me was similar to Judwaa, my first film as a producer with Salman, as then too, he had as much faith in me. That time too the trailer had worked wonders as his audience had not seen him ever before in a double role. I have been in this industry for 27 years and am like a child of it. So, for me, be it Mr Bachchan's tweet, to contemporaries like Akshay Kumar calling me, to youngsters like Arjun Kapoor, Varun Dhawan or Tiger Shroff calling me, was very exciting. Everybody from the industry has been surprised and excited and that for me is a great high."
